Trying Something New

In May, they hold The Féile Na Bealtaine in Dingle, Co. Kerry, a festival for music, art, literature and the craic! This year's theme was Birds, which prompted me to step out of my comfort zone and try my hand at creating sculptures. I had a lot of waste polystyrene that had been protecting a dehumidifier I had bought for the studio. I decided to make good use of it rather than throwing it into the bin and set about carving the polystyrene into birds. The wooden bases are from the few remaining pieces of timber I have from Chris Larkin's stock of luthiers' timber. Here are some of the results. I think Chris would be pleased with the results.
